An Apprenticeship is…

  • A full-time job with both on and off the job training
  • For individuals over the age of 16, living in England and not in full time education
  • An apprentice must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week, 20% of this time must be given for off the job training
  • An apprenticeship can be offered to existing employees or new recruits to gain the necessary skills and knowledge required for specific job roles, future Employment and progression
  • An apprentice must be paid a minimum of £3.70 per hour. If the apprentice is 19 or over and has been on program for over a year they must be paid minimum wage for their age
  • Apprenticeships benefit employers and individuals, and by boosting the skills of the workforce they help to improve economic productivity

How it Works

You can get skills, get paid and even get a degree with an apprenticeship.

As a Skills Edge Apprentice you will be employed by a top local company in your area and be paid a wage. You will also gain insight and trade specific skills that will help you progress in your career.

Apprenticeships last for a minimum of a year and are tailored to your individual learning needs. You will receive specialist training which will help you to improve your practical skills and improve your employability.

What's the Process?

  1. Submit your registration to Skills Edge using this link
  2. We will review your application and give you feedback on it
  3. If successful, we'll invite you in for an informal interview with one of our careers adviser's
  4. We put your application forward for the apprenticeships you are interested in
  5. An interview with the employer in order to secure your employment!
  6. Come back to Skills Edge HQ to get signed up in our system
  7. Start your apprenticeship!
